George Washington 1932-S Quarters

I love Pawn Stars.

So a woman walked in to the pawn shop in the latest episode with a quarter that she retrieved while working at the cash register in a store twenty seven years ago.

There it was, shining as real silver does, a 1932-S George Washington quarter, potentially worth hundreds of dollars.

In 1932, relatively few of these were made in the San Francisco mint, a mint that stamped an "S" on the quarters they made.

So after dude grew suspicious, and an expert came, come to find out someone had soldered the "S" onto it! It was a phony!!

The exceedingly disappointed ex-cashier says to the camera in the parking lot afterwards,
"It's kind of depressing when you've held on to a coin for twenty seven years to find out that you've been holding it for absolutely nothing because it's worthless!"
Do you have any "1932-S George Washington quarters" in your life?
