Mayweather vs. Ortiz

No question it was a cheap shot -- basically a sucker punch. Apparently the ref himself didn't even know the fight was on! He was stunned! Look at him!

No question Ortiz was basically in the act of apologizing to Mayweather for his nasty head butt when he got hit out of the blue.

The hit was probably legal, although ref Cortes sent ambiguous signals, was still talking to the judges, was slightly confused himself, and it was not clear that the fight was on.

No question Ortiz didn't think the ref had given the go-ahead to fight.

No question Ortiz looked at the ref after the first punch as if to say, "We're not fighting yet right?"

No question Mayweather threw the second, knockout punch WHILE ORTIZ WAS LOOKING AT THE REF FOR INSTRUCTIONS.

No question Mayweather knew all this when he threw it.

No question Ortiz was holding his own up to this point in the fight.

Then for Mayweather to go after 80 year old Larry Merchant with personal attacks just for asking him about it?!

Opinion: Technically a win but a huge display of Mayweather's lack of character, and a display that was neither satisfying or noble in any way -- not something that makes you want to stand up and cheer that's for sure.

I still only have one question for Mayweather: When are you going to fight Manny Pacquiao?

He can run his mouth all he wants but until he quits running from Pacquiao it's all hot air.
